Frequently Asked Questions

With decades of experience under his belt, Dr. Arakelian is always happy to address his patients’ dental-related questions and concerns here in Haverhill, MA. For added convenience, we’ve also compiled some of the queries we receive most often and their answers below. Do you not see the information you’re looking for on this page? No problem – just contact us directly.

How often should I be visiting the dentist’s office?

In most cases, we strongly recommend scheduling at least two professional dental checkups and cleanings each calendar year. Even the most diligent brushers and flossers can fall victim to tricky dental problems, and routine appointments will help our Haverhill team catch any concerning problems as early as they develop.

If there are extenuating circumstances that need more diligent attention, such as periodontal/gum disease or teeth that are overly sensitive to tooth decay, Dr. Arakelian may recommend stopping by for cleanings every three to four months instead. Our team will be sure to let you know if we recommend this during a six-month visit.

What’s the best way to replace missing teeth?

While every patient’s needs and preferences are unique, our team is most likely to recommend dental implants as the top-tier choice for lasting reconstructive care! Why? Because implants faithfully replicate every part of the lost tooth, including the root that provides vital support from underneath the gum tissue. The final result is virtually indistinguishable from natural dental structure in look, feel, and function. Plus, it can last for multiple decades or even the rest of your life.

Are dental implants not right for your personal situation? Don’t worry – more traditional services like dentures and bridges are also available.

I want to improve the way my smile looks. Can you help?

Absolutely. Dr. Arakelian offers a wide variety of cosmetic services that are specifically designed to elevate the appearance of teeth and bolster our patients’ self-confidence, including professional teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, metal-free restorative work, and more.

I want a straighter smile, but not if it requires wearing metal braces. Is there another option?

Yes! With Invisalign Clear Braces, it’s easier than ever to finally get rid of frustrating misalignments and gaps between teeth with hardly anyone around you being the wiser. Instead of wires and brackets, patients wear a custom series of clear aligners, each one designed to represent a different stage of their changing smile. The aligners themselves are extremely subtle and removable to boot, which means you can continue to enjoy all of your favorite foods throughout the treatment process.

Is it true that a dentist can treat sleep apnea?

Yes, in some cases. If you’ve been diagnosed with mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) by your general physician or a sleep specialist, Dr. Arakelian may be able to help you avoid the dreaded CPAP machine! Our practice offers custom oral appliances that can help reposition the jaw and prevent airway blockage, resulting in unencumbered breathing. This means you can sleep soundly throughout the night and wake up finally feeling ready for the day ahead.

Do you take dental insurance?

Our practice is in-network with a wide variety of PPO insurances, including Cigna, Delta Dental, United Concordia, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and more. We can also file claims on the patient’s behalf for virtually any insurance plan, so don’t hesitate to contact us or visit our new patients page if you would like more information.

I don’t have dental insurance. Do you have other payment options?

Yes. Our in-house membership plan offers many of the same valuable discounts as traditional insurance for a flat yearly fee, and affordable financing can also be arranged through CareCredit for bigger procedures.
